Photography has always been a way for many to express their inner self and to keep the memories alive. This post will bring you 12 best photography courses on Udemy to help you better save the moments.
The best thing about being a beginner and aspiring photographer is that I am free to explore just about anything. For instance, if I see a cute dog on the street, I’ll take a picture. Similarly, when I’m hiking on a marvelous mountain, I’ll just press the shutter without further thinking.
However, if you’re running a blog like me, you will find that “freedom” does not apply here. To find suitable photos for my website, I have been relying on non-copyrighted images from generous authors.
Although that method works out just fine, it would be much more awesome if I can create my own photos to represent what I want to say. Therefore, I have decided to learn to be a photographer. The problem is I don’t have much time to go to class. That’s where online learning comes along.
Below are 12 Udemy courses on photography I run into on my way to taking my photographing skill to the next level.
1. Best Udemy Photography Course:

After the course, you’ll be able to create sufficient images which help you stand out. A DSLR camera or mirrorless camera is a great tool for taking this course. However, it doesn’t have to be an expensive or fancy model. Any interchangeable lens camera, like a DSLR or mirrorless camera, will suffice.
It is great to have things explained and then actually showing us the difference these settings have on the eventual picture.I have taken a few other on line courses but learned more from this course than all others combined. Proud to have just received my first professional photography payment from the township I live in for taking pictures for their website. Thanks to these 3 guys and their experience…My dream is becoming a reality.

2. Night Photography: You Can Shoot Stunning Night Photos

Includes: 5 articles, 11 downloadable resources, assignments

While capturing a moment
This behind-the-scenes course is a combination of entertainment and education. The three instructors are not just sitting behind a computer desk, showing you slides. They are out in the Joshua Tree National Park showing you exactly what professional photographers do to shoot stunning night photos.
Although the course was meant for beginner photographers, it would be beneficial if you’ve already attained basic photography concepts such as aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.
I am going to be going to Sedona and doing some night shoots so this course helped me get ready for that. I am going to go out into the surround area I live in and practice getting night photos. I loved the light photos so will have to have my daughter go out and so she can do the drawing for me to see what we can come up with. Great course and gave me a better understanding of how to set my camera for being able to go out at night and take some better photos.

4. The Art of Black and White Photography
Length: 6 hours
Total students: 12.000+
Includes: 3 downloadable resources
Created by: David J. Nightingale
If you notice, many of the most powerful, memorable, and effective photographs are black and white images. With digital photography, it’s getting easier for us to take a great black and white photograph.
How about creating one?
This photography course will provide you with a range of powerful, flexible, and non-destructive black and white conversion techniques and how to overcome the unique problems you’ll face when converting your aesthetically striking portraits to black and white.
Some techniques that I never knew how to use, shown to me in the first video. I am really looking forward to the full course ahead. I am using affinity photo and not photoshop – so this course is taking a little adjustment to find the tools to use – but so far so good – a couple of head scratch moments. Would be great if there was a B & W course for affinity.

The market for real estate and architecture photography is huge. Business is booming in commercial and residential construction. Homebuilders, property managers, construction companies, hospitals, retirement communities, hotels, manufacturing facilities, magazines, and real estate ventures are all yearning for professional architecture and real estate photographers.
Architecture Interiors is one of the most challenging subjects to compose and light. There are ambient light issues, color balance issues, and lighting issues. In this Udemy course, you will learn how to light an interior, how to manage lighting color balance, how to make the inside perfectly balanced with the outside, how to find a storytelling angle, how to deal with poor light, how to fix bad color, how to work fast to be more profitable, and a whole lot more.
I am currently doing a Diploma in Photography and Photo Images, and I would have had stronger architectural photography images if I did this course, before doing my Commercial Architecture and Folio Assignment. I really like the way he showed us the images, and then how he capture and edited them.

However, as a beginner, you may feel overwhelmed and intimidated by all the camera’s dials, buttons, and settings. This Udemy course will help you master the most important settings on your Canon or Nikon DSLR camera and learn how to look at your surroundings through new, more creative eyes so that you can take magazine-quality photographs of your friends, family, vacations, events, and anything that is beautiful and important to you.
I really enjoyed this course! I had just bought a new DSLR camera and was determined to not spend all that money and they just use “auto”. I liked the fact that I could sit with my camera in hand and walk through the settings with the instructor. I learned a lot, and have already successfully used some of what I’ve learned. Very good course.

This is a very comprehensive, practical photography course that covers from basic to advanced topics. You’ll learn about what equipment to buy on a tight budget. The course also demonstrates how to put the gear together, how to modify it, and shows various ways of triggering the flashes. Exactly what I was looking for. Working with flashes indoor and outdoor, high speed sync technique. An excellent instructor gives you good tips in understandable language for amateurs like me. Thank you.

10. The Art of Finding Light: Photography for the artist in you
Length: 1.5 hours
Total students: 3.000+
Includes: 63 downloadable resources
Created by: Adam Marelli
Have you ever heard a photographer say, “Oh the light right there is perfect,” and not understood what they meant?
We’ve all been there.
Spotting great lighting is not a gift, it is a skill. While most of the photography world is obsessed with gear and post-production, the real secret to taking amazing images is learning how to see like an artist.
This Udemy course looks at finding light anytime and anywhere you go to create pictures that glow. As a trained photographer, painter, and sculptor, Marelli has combined twenty years of art education into simple-to-follow lessons to put you on the way to becoming a better photographer.
I’m a little biased as I have now taken all Adam’s courses on Udemy 🙂 Rather than showing me tons of his photos – he shows the great master painters. For me, this really helped me to see his concepts and principles. As I look back at some of my photos I now see this principle in action! It has been very informative and instructional for me.

11. Ultimate Guide to Landscape and Nature Photography
Length: 8 hours
Total students: 2.200+
Includes: 7 articles
Created by: Charlie Borland
We have discussed wedding photography, black and white settings, architecture and real estate, even night photos, let’s not forget one style of photography that is just as important as the rest: Landscape and nature.
In this Udemy course, you will learn about the gear best-suited for landscape photography, how to obtain a perfect exposure, how to develop your “eye” to see striking compositions, and how to see the light. It will also look at how to photograph mountains, rivers, deserts, sunsets, sunrises, forests and much more.
I was absolutely enthralled with this class. I learned so much! It is the best photography class I’ve ever taken. It went into much-needed detail and gave me so much information to use in my own photography! I loved this class. Sorry it’s over!

12. Photography – Individual & Family Posing – Live Sessions
Length: 3 hours
Total students: 1.800+
Includes: 11 downloadable resources
Created by: Bernie Raffe AMPA
Unless you are a Victoria Secret model, the majority of us are not aware of our natural and unconscious body positions. As a result, we don’t usually present ourselves when posing as well as we might. For example, most of us tend not to be concerned with where or how we place our hands and arms, tilt our heads, or position our feet.
As a photographer, it’s part of your responsibility to help the customers. This course will give live photo sessions with individuals, couples, young and older siblings, and large and extended families. It will also show how the instructor, Bernie Raffe, handled problems, and how he positioned and posed people to achieve greater results.
I LOVE BERNIE! His classes are fun to watch, easy to implement. This particular session is broken up into various segments and before I go on a shoot I re-watch the specific segment because he demonstrates poses and what to look for (look out for), light, etc. Another keeper for sure.
