Watch Thanos Wipe Out Your Google Search Results

“Easter egg” is a popular term which refers to a hidden message. Google is a master at hiding Easter eggs in its products and it has been doing this for years. While some eggs are ever-green, others are just to mark a special occasion or particular event. The latest example is the ability to play Snake on Google Maps back in April Fools’ Day.

Google, of course, is not letting the release of Avengers: Endgame pass by without one of its famous Easter eggs.

Let’s Celebrate the Release of Avengers: Endgame

As you might have already noticed, Avengers: Endgame is finally out now. After 11 years and 22 movies, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is wrapping up an epic storyline which has brought together countless superheroes from across the universe.

With the immense hype surrounding Avengers: Endgame, Google has stepped in with a very cute and funny Easter egg. It’s a sign that even the biggest search engine on the Internet wants a piece of the Marvel pie.

Watch Thanos Wipe Out Your Search Results

It’s pretty easy to trigger this Avengers-themed Google Search trick. Here’s what you need to do to join the fun with Thanos:

1 Go to Google.com as you normally would.

2 Type “THANOS” in the search box. Don’t worry. This will not produce headlines with spoilers for the movie. Rather, most of the results are about this very trick.

3 You will now see an Infinity Gauntlet icon on the right sidebar, where the basic details about the character are. Make sure your volume is on for mobile or desktop, then click on the gauntlet.

4 Once you click the gauntlet, Thanos, the villainous wearer of the Gauntlet, will snap his fingers and your search results will start to disappear before your very eyes. A majority of the links on the page will disintegrate into digital dust.

5 Thankfully, all is not lost. You can either refresh or click the Infinity Gauntlet a second time. Once the Time Stone whirs into action, the number of results will magically climb back up to its original total.

I’m not sure if Google has hidden other Endgame easter eggs anywhere, but this is the only one that’s been discovered so far.

No Spoilers, Please!

This is obviously a fun trick, with Google trying to get involved with something people are talking about. It’s not yet known if this Easter egg will be permanent or only available while Avengers: Endgame is in cinemas.

Either way, please remember that it’s not a good idea to post spoilers on social media. There are people who haven’t got a chance to enjoy the movie yet, like me.

So, please don’t port spoilers for Avengers: End Game on social media or directly to someone.

Please.
